Leaders in the construction industry have shifted their mindset towards those in the role of marketing and business development. Nearly 90% of the industry CEOs have accepted their marketing team as an integral part of the company and see a grand opportunity in having them at the decision-making table.
This year, founder and partner of Go Strategies, Corlew and Frank Lippert shared early findings received from marketing professionals.
This new mindset involves working collaboratively, trusting and empowering your team, which are all characteristics important to Millennials.
Lippert points out that Millennials are the largest generation ever, so they are having a major impact as they come into the workforce in huge numbers. Most Millennials have placed it upon themselves to receive dual degrees such as engineering, architecture or construction management.
The study revealed that 75% of responding leaders reported that they “meet with marketing staff regularly” and “seek ideas from them.” CEOs also said they “hire good marketing people and let them run their department.”
One example of a marketer that spoke at the symposium was Grenee Celuch, CEO of Concord General Contracting Inc.
Celuch started at the company 14 years ago as a marketing coordinator and rose through the ranks to marketing director, partner, vice president and, in a 2019 appointment, CEO.
