Sephora is shutting down! But only for one day.
Sephora just announced that they will be closing their stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices the morning of June 5 so they can hold an inclusion training workshop!
With more than 16,000 U.S. employees, they want to bring up the importance of diversity and inclusion to the organization.
Similar to Starbucks, they closed all of their stores nationwide to hold anti-bias training sessions after they had a high-profile incident in Philadelphia. And in Sephora’s case, a popular musician named Sza tweeted that a Sephora employee called security on her while she was shopping in Calabasas, CA. Sephora has since released a statement apologizing for the incident.
Later this summer, Sephora will be launching a marketing campaign around the topic of “belonging and inclusion within the world of beauty.”
