Observed on the last Monday of May, comes Memorial Day which is a national holiday to honor the men and women who have passed away while serving in the U.S. military. Los Angeles has many events and activities to spend the day honoring those loved ones lost. Take a look at 3 events set to occur this Memorial Day!
On Monday, May 27, the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda will feature a panel discussion on how the wives and mothers of Vietnam Prisoners of War joined forces to help free their husbands.
Happening this weekend at the Queen Mary, May 25 through the 27, a Salute to Service will take place at the Long Beach-based ocean-liner. Staff members will work to create historical reenactments as the recall the ship’s service during the World War II.
Not far from the Queen Mary is the USS Iowa which will have a pierside Memorial Day service. It will take place at 10AM to 3 PM on Monday, May 27. This is a Free event and will include a patriotic dance performance” courtesy of the San Pedro City Ballet as well as activities for the kids. Additionally, all active, retired and reserve military will receive complimentary admission to tour the Battleship IOWA Museum.
