After 238 cities have submitted bids hoping to have Amazon’s HQ2, Amazon finally came to a decision and chose two cities!
Amazon has officially selected New York City and Northern Virginia as their HQ2!
For over a year, Amazon issued a request for proposals from cities across North America, laying out demands, including a location with strong local and regional talent —particularly in software development and related fields—as well as a stable and business-friendly environment to continue hiring and innovating!
All of the cities that submitted bids were hoping to boost their economy as Seattle’s economy has raised over $38 billion once Amazon’s HQ opened.
All in all, Amazon’s selection process came down to evaluating the feasibility of their future partnership that can accommodate their hiring plans as well as benefit their employees and local communities.
