As we reported earlier this week, Amazon is having their annual Amazon Prime Day beginning on Monday, July 16 at 3 PM ET, and consequently, this has lead other retailers to do something similar. Take a look at how these big-name retailers are taking part in Amazon’s made-up holiday to remain competitive in the industry!
Last year, tens of millions of Prime members made a purchase on Prime Day 2017 which totaled over $1 billion worth of sales, which was more than 50% higher than the prior year. As several retailers have seen the huge success received by Amazon, they decided to not fall behind and also offer these massive Black Friday-type sales in July! Target, for example, is kicking having a sale starting on Tuesday, July 17, with discounts of 30% off Target-exclusive home brands, select baby clothes, and Google products, as well as 25% off beauty and personal-care items.
JCPenney and Macy’s
Similarly, JCPenney held their biggest two-day sale this week, ahead of Prime Day, and have already announced the arrival of their three-day promotion, called “Cyber-in-July,” which begins on Monday. Furthermore, Macy’s is holding a “Black Friday in July” promotion this week as they will be offering 25% off most of their website.
Correspondingly, other retailers will try to grab some of Amazon’s customers as some are announcing their strategy of price matching Amazon’s Prime Day deals! Participating retailers include Home Depot, Staples, Best Buy, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
