Retailers are constantly looking for ways to redesign the shopping experience since customers are finding it easier to shop online. Well, Zara has been working on designing their stores to stand out as a revolutionizing in-store shopping experience with its two-story facade without windows on the first floor to provide a clear insight of the store’s architectural features and products. Take a look at how Zara is delivering a unique shopping experience!
On Friday, Zara unveiled its flagship store makeover at Westfield Stratford mall in London. The two-story, 48,000-sq.-ft. store features digital technology that integrates the online and offline shopping experience. This new store design features automated self-checkout kiosks, interactive mirrors, and mobile payment systems. In addition to the regular retail space, Zara has incorporated a section that is dedicated for purchases of online orders. When a customer arrives to pick up their online order at the store, a robotic arm works behind the scenes to retrieve the item in seconds. Anyone who orders online can have their items readily available that same day if made before 2 PM, or the following day if placed in the afternoon.
Moreover, the store has an array of features designed to create a seamless and convenient shopping experience. Zara is also among the first stores to incorporate technological mirrors where it allows the customers to envision the products before the final purchase by equipping the mirrors with RFID ( Radio-frequency identification) which detects the garment that a customer is holding. The mirror then lets the customer see what a complete outfit may look like right in the mirror!
“The reopening of Zara’s flagship in Stratford is an important moment for Inditex,” stated Pablo Isla, chairman and CEO of Zara parent company Inditex. “We are in a unique position as we enjoy a global sales platform that fully integrates stores and online,” he continued. All of the investments that Zara has been implementing in advanced technology is their strategy to optimize their stores and bring a more unique and productive experience.
