After traveling throughout Asia on a journey of uncertainty, a group of friends became inspired by all of the teas and coffee that they tried on their travels abroad. Upon their arrival, they made drinks for their friends and families and received amazing feedback. On January 2012, the first 7 Leaves Cafe opened its doors to the public.
The backstory behind 7 Leaves Cafe.
In the winter of 2010, during the time of the economic recession, a group of friends were inspired by the recipes and traditions of coffee and tea after their travels to Asia. They took four months off from their corporate jobs to travel to Thailand, India, Vietnam, Korea, and Taiwan where they tasted teas, coffees, and other drinks. They were unsure as to what career path to take and thus, six months later they began creating their own business together. At 7 Leaves, they offer coffee and tea. They use traditional brewing methods in order to extract the best flavors. From the precise amount of water to the exact grams of tea leaves to the quality of the tea leaves themselves; they meticulously work on crafting their methods.
Keeping the tea and coffee tradition of the Asian cuisine.
To ensure the quality of their product, the cafe has a simple menu of 16 drinks. 7 Leaves do not use any artificial flavors and has a limited selection of pastries to choose from. This allows the business to maintain their focus on their drinks. Also, their drinks are made ahead of time because some of their drinks like the Mung Bean Milk Tea or House Special Coffee takes hours to brew. They have to allow the time for it to cook and allow the flavors to be extracted. Instead of using powder to create some of their teas, they use real tea leaves and steep them the same way as in Thailand. All of their locations have an environment that allows their customers to relax, talk, and work.
Their expansion across Southern California.
After turning a small noodle shop into their first cafe in 2012, their business has grown into 11 other locations across the Southern California region. Today, you can find several 7 Leaves in Chino Hills, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, and Artesia. They do not plan to stop expanding anytime soon as their most grand and anticipated location just arrived at the Artesia and Cerritos area.
