Some of the biggest names in the restaurant industry came together in Florida for the Food Network’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival. The beloved burger bash was hosted by Food Network personality Guy Fieri and many famous guest judges.
The festival has raised more than $26 million for Florida International University’s school of hospitality and serves as an interactive educational platform for more than 1,200 students who volunteer. Guests were able to choose whose burger reigns supreme, by casting their vote for the Heineken Light People’s Choice Award. There was a group of well-known judges like Andy Cohen, Jonathan Cheban, David Grutman, and Zac Posen. Food Network personality Marc Murphy and Lele Pons decided on who received this year’s Schweid & Sons “The Very Best Burger.”
Best of the Bash Award
Barley won the “Best of the Bash” and took home an awarded check of $10,000. Jorgie Ramos, whose Kendall mom-and-pop gastropub Barley led the rise of upscale dining in Dadeland. Barley is a neighborhood chef-driven gastropub located in Miami’s up and coming Downtown Dadeland offering their signature style of rustic Americana comfort food with Latin, Asian & Italian influences. They emphasize on sourcing the finest ingredients from local farms, purveyors, and fisheries. They also offer handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers, and hand-selected boutique wines.
The Heineken’s Light People’s Choice Award
Swine Southern Table & Bar won “The Heineken’s Light People’s Choice” award and took home an awarded check of $5,000. Swine Southern Table & Bar is owned and operated by 50 Eggs Inc, a multi-faceted, full-service culinary & hospitality firm focused on developing an irrepressible brand and unparalleled dining experience. 50 Eggs Inc. also owns and operates the James Beard semi-finalist Yardbird Southern Table & Bar and Khong River House. Swine Southern Table & Bar is located in Coral Gables, FL. They offer many meaty plates like chicken wings, buffalo bites, pork sandwiches, ribs, and many accompanying sides.
The Very Best Burger Award
BUTTER won “The Very Best Burger Award” and took home an awarded check of $2,500. BUTTER is located in Midtown Manhattan and has maintained an exclusive niche restaurant scene for stylish Manhattanites since its initial inception on Lafayette St. in 2002. The American restaurant is managed by Food Network star and Executive Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, who uses greenmarket offerings to create a seasonal menu. Butter caters to any guest, whether they are seeking a formal dining experience or one that is more casual.
